Horizon Science Academy 8A Students Visit CVG Airport for Career-Focused Tour

On September 20, 2024, Horizon Science Academy’s 8A aviation students had the exciting opportunity to participate in a career-focused tour of the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG). This field trip was an incredible chance for students to explore future career paths in aviation and gain firsthand insights into the airport's operations.

The day began with a warm welcome from Jessica Warner, a representative from CVG’s Human Resources team. During a 30-minute presentation, students were introduced to the wide range of career opportunities available at the airport, from ground operations to air traffic control and emergency services.

Following the presentation, the group visited the CVG Fire Department, where students were given an up-close look at the fire trucks and learned about the vital role firefighters play in ensuring the safety of the airport. The students were particularly impressed by the specialized equipment and unique firefighting techniques used to handle emergencies at the airport.

The tour also included a visit to EPIC Academy, where students explored classrooms, met with instructors, and learned about the educational pathways available to those interested in pursuing careers in aviation. The exposure to real-world career options sparked curiosity and excitement among the students.

This informative and engaging field trip provided our students with a behind-the-scenes look at the various careers available in aviation and helped them connect their classroom learning to real-world experiences. We look forward to more opportunities like this to inspire our students and help them explore future career pathways.
