Concept Schools joins elite group after being named System of Distinction by Cognia

Just months after receiving two major honors from the organization, Concept Schools has been recognized by Cognia as a System of Distinction. Concept is only the 11th institution of over 400 Cognia-certified systems to garner this designation.

Cognia, a nonprofit organization that provides quality assurance for schools, school districts, and education service providers, shared the news with Concept after a lengthy review process.

“We are very humbled to receive this designation,” said Concept Schools’ Chief Academic Officer Michael Kuran. “We want to thank Cognia for recognizing the dedication we put in every day to ensure the students across our network thrive when they step into one of our academic environments. This honor is a testament to years of hard work from the people within our organization to the teachers and administrators who help us actualize our vision for a better future in education.”

Cognia’s review of Concept took nine months to complete. It included a self-assessment report, an executive summary detailing Concept’s values as an organization, and multiple visits to Concept network schools. Cognia also conducted interviews with various students, stakeholders, teachers, and school administrators to get a full grasp of the quality of educational services Concept brings to the table.

By the end of the review, the results were beyond stellar. Concept netted an Index of Education Quality score of 367 out of a possible 400 points––114 points higher than Cognia’s network average (253). It also surpassed the average network ELEOT score, which measures a school system’s proficiencies in equitable learning, supportive learning, how high its expectations are, progress monitoring, well-managed learning, active learning and digital learning (Concept earned a 3.02/4 score).

After all the time and hard work that was put into the evaluation process, Concept supplanted itself in the top five percent of all Cognia-certified systems.

“This recognition highlights (Concept’s) exceptional STEM program and acknowledges its broader commitment to providing a well-rounded education,” Cognia said in a press release. “Through innovative curriculum, dedicated educators, and a supportive community, Concept Schools has consistently exceeded expectations and set new standards for educational achievement, ensuring that its students are equipped to succeed in a rapidly changing world.”

Concept looks forward to taking the momentum it has generated over the last year and continuing to make an impact on every student and family it serves.

“We know our education model is one of the most effective ones available in the public school sector,” Kuran said. “Concept is excited for what we can do for our current and future students and hope the spotlight Cognia has put on our organization shows families they should trust us with putting their children on the right path.”
